Petrodrill launches first Well Control School in North East India

Petrodrill has opened a brand new state-of-the-art well control school in North East India to train drilling personnel for the region’s thriving oil and gas industry thanks to 3t Energy Group.

The new Petrodrill Well Control School, which is an associate centre affiliated with AIS Survivex’s Well Control Centre of Excellence in Aberdeen, will be based in Guwahati, the capital of Assam – gateway to the oil and gas industry in the region. It has full IWCF approval to run level 3 and level 4 well control courses and will provide delegates with the skills to manage all types of standard and complex well control scenarios using the latest drilling simulator technology.

Petrodrill Well Control School has been formed by a group of oilfield services experts with combined experience of more than 100 years across a range of disciplines areas including operations and engineering for key oil and gas companies in India and globally.

3t Energy Group helped Petrodrill through the process of accreditation and integrating internal management systems and teaching materials – achieving IWCF approval within just ten weeks.

Petrodrill founder, Sanjay Baruah said: “Petrodrill WCS is glad to be associated with AIS Survivex-Aberdeen, especially considering its reputation as a Well Control Centre of Excellence

“3t Energy Group assisted us in the complete process of IWCF accreditation and helped to establish ourselves as a well-equipped drilling school, which will help to raise drilling well control standards across India and beyond. Working with 3t Energy Group has been an excellent experience and has helped us achieve our goal of establishing this school. We are very pleased to have them as our partner moving forward.”

Alan Sharp, who headed up the project for 3t Energy Group, said: “It was a pleasure to work with Petrodrill on this important project to bring internationally-accredited drilling and well control training to this area of India. Because of our vast experience of developing state-of-the-art training centres of excellence in the UK, we were able to help Petrodrill build its centre from scratch into an internationally approved school ready and able to train delegates. We wish the business every success moving forward.”
